The Mary Sue vs. The Regular Fan Character

NOTE HERE these are my own characters, both of them. So please dont get all "OMG shes making fun of someone's character!" on me, because these are both mine, though i am indeed making fun of a type of character.


I thought maybe making my own mary sue recolor character would be a better idea for this specific piece. I might even make her a profile--I certainly have plenty of examples to work off of. Not sure if I really want her to look like an Amy rip off... but that would be a major factor of her Mary Sueness...

Oh, Uh...I mean, what recolor? She's totally original and doesn't look like a slutty cheerleader princess version of Amy because (Insert lame made up reason here:_______________)! Hey, I think I just created the third Sonic Mary Sue sister to the other two characters I did about a month ago--the circle is complete!

Im considering tweaking some details on her so the next time I draw her she may not look exactly like this, but I would still like people to get to know the character before judging her rather harshly for wearing a dark little outfit--I didn't even know I was drawing a gothy style, but even so, there's really nothing wrong with a goth style of dress so long as it's not overdone, or too out of place for the setting, you know? I would hope that readers also pay attention to the conversation going on as well and not simply decide that the gothic character is on par with the mary sue who is an obviously oversexualized copy of Amy. It is a combination of factors that create a mary sue and not style of dress alone, which is the jist of the arguing going on in the picture, but surprise, a lot of people miss the point.
